I served my apprenticeship as a joiner with Vosper Thornycroft and from the main yard in Woolston, I was transferred to the ship repair division where I was lucky to work on a broad range of projects. I worked on ships like the QE2 and for interior design companies, making either individual pieces for designers like David Hicks or larger projects for companies like Interiors International. I travelled for six years working on projects for the Sultan of Oman, installing the joinery I had already made in the UK, then onto contracting in Cairo and cruise ships around the Caribbean. I finally went back to Oman working for Interiors International as a project manager working for the Sultan, other members of the royal family, ministers of the government and VIP's.
On my return to the UK I joined a conservatory company called Finch as a stop gap and have stayed in the industry ever since. I worked for only three other companies since leaving Finch as national sales manager and in each of them have been able to further the product development and sales within them. I have a broad base of knowledge across all aspects of conservatory/orangery design and installation. With fact based advice, I can also advise on planning and building control issues. I have the ability to 3D model my designs, enabling me to work with my prospective clients and bring their design ideas to fruition and me to offer objective advice along the way.
I am a happily married man of twenty eight years and have two children, my son is a qualified electrician and my daughter, following in her mothers footsteps, is training at university to be a paediatric nurse.
Still ever the sports fanatic I still try to keep fit, work, old injuries and age allowing. After being able to play most sports, its down to early mornings in the swimming pool, that never gets any easier, and out occasionally on my bike. Looking forward to meeting you in 2015.
Kind regards
Colin
